The most difficult part was the tonal values. You want light and dark, but you still want the summery air to dissolve the forms. This is my book with the Monet print, next to my painting. It is fun to learn and still know that you are not copying anybody's work:
Excellent work, Marie! I always love paintings with umbrellas...the lavender flowers adds to this painting..
ReplyDeleteThank you, Hilda....the second painting is much more difficult. I persevere not wanting to have a one-time success on hand!

ReplyDeleteYou are so kind, padmaja!
DeleteIt is beautiful, Marie. I so love the soft colors and any palette that features green (my favorite color), blues, and violets is the best ever.
ReplyDeleteSherry, I know. Even as a child these cool colors spoke to me!
DeleteMonet is an inspiration to all of us!! It's interesting, isn't it, how we can have such a variety of "greats" to influence our thinking and our painting?
ReplyDeleteBe well.
Yes, it is, Marian...I have been neglecting the History of Art! Thanks for visiting!
